I wanted to write something positively brilliant as my first post on my brand new?beautiful domain, in the brand new (but still pink) ?incarnation of this blog, but nothing was coming to me, so I didn’t.? And am still not, as will be demonstrated by the half-assed post that follows.
Clearly, however, I was going through some strange, brutal, grammar-writing withdrawals,?resulting in a lengthy and ruthless grammar argument I got into elsewhere?in the internet tubes.? I ran across this dude posting about a particular syntax issue and, all friendly- and funny-like, advising people about it.? Except all the information was just completely wrong and, feeling somehow it was my duty or something,?I decided to step in.?
It got kind of ugly.??We didn’t have?to break out the caps lock key, or anything, but I will say I had to repeat myself, in bold.? No one wants to do that.? I will let this be a lesson: no talking grammar on other people’s blogs.? They have blogs; they can say whatever they want, Completely Fucking Wrong though it may be.? I have never been one to get all up in people’s kitchens correcting them, and there’s no reason to start now.?
Rest assured, I shall confine my grammar talk to this space (as well as my classroom and my students’ papers, of course), as ever it was and shall be again.?
That being said, I do not have any such topic inspiring me today — I just wanted to (finally!) make some kind of inaugural post here and say hello to anyone who may be hanging around.? Are you here? And you? Hello, then!?How do you do??I know there are?tons of you around,? because this new domain gets?shockingly frequent visits, numbering in the threes!? I’m not used to being so low profile, but that was kind of the point,? wasn’t it??
I have a stack of papers to grade this weekend, so I imagine I’ll be back here sometime soon to complain about how the chowderheads are mangling both syntax and logic in newly appalling ways.? See you ’round!
