(Though before, on occasion, I have actually received funny little communiques from their parents, who have apparently not realized that this isn't, in fact, high school any more.) I love how parents seem to think they get to decide classroom policy. Bah. J -- You know, I never thought I would like teaching. I tend to be fairly impatient, and don't often see why people can't just GET IT already. That's changed, though, I guess, as I have learned better ways to present material and to take pleasure in them getting smaller things if not the larger ones, right away. This post reminded me of why I left my position last year. I simply refuse to coddle any scatter-brained slackers, anywhere, anytime -- and there seems to be a plethora of them enrolled in college these days. Thank you for reminding me that a steady paycheck isn't always worth the hassle. I much prefer being a self-employed artist who scrapes by from time to time.
